Jayden’s Story Collection- 1
From Teacher Cathy:
Jayden, a 10-year-old Chinese boy who writes in English as a second language, has accomplished an incredibly ambitious story, and converted all of us into being his loyal fans.
Jayden became a DKL student at the age of 6, to the contrary of his quiet manner, he has been wildly imaginative with his pen.
However, when Jayden decided to attempt a story that weaves together time-traveling, classical Greek philosophers, and a royal assassination, we all went,
“Jayden, it’s ok if the story doesn’t work out.”
The story opens in an ambitious fictional time that connects today and the classical Greek world. An alien robot, Charlie, and Jayden travelled across time just for fun, but soon found themselves to be the only people standing between the assassins and King Philip II. Will they change Greek history? Will they ever return to their own time?
Jayden maneuvered a rich transition across settings: at Jayden’s house, in the plaza of ancient Greece, at the house of Aristotle, in the Palace of King Philip II, in the house of a Macedonian General and at Plato’s Academia.

From Teacher Cathy:
An alien robot that travels through time to ancient Greece?
We are slightly concerned that Jayden is attempting too many wild ideas at the same time.

From Teacher Cathy:
The two boys first tried to a climb mountain, then drifted to the idea of space travel, but finally, accidentally pressed the button for time travel.
Everyone chuckled. Isn’t this just like any boy’s afternoon: everything gets off track, and nothing happens as planned.

From Teacher Cathy:
Aristotle is a history geek.
Jayden is a history geek.
And poor Charlie, he promptly fell asleep in the midst of a conversation that inspired the time’s most groundbreaking theory .

From Teacher Cathy:
At this point, Jayden convinces us with his handling of the time scope. He makes the trio travel across time, with the right motivations and the right resources.
Charlie and Jayden intervened a royal assassination, and altered history forever.

From Teacher Cathy:
The plot is slightly flawed when Charlie and King Phillip II are discussing plans for a rescue, while Jayden is locked in prison. The story is told with a “first person narrative”, which means Jayden is telling the story. In this case, he would have no knowledge of what is happening outside of the prison.
To fix the flaw, the writer could have Charlie rescue Jayden first, and then recount this part of the story.
Nevertheless, Jayden a 10-year-old Chinese boy who writes in English as a second language, has accomplished an incredibly ambitious story, and converted all of us into his loyal fans.
